This is why we developed the Ghost Key.
The Ghost Key is a push-to-start conversion kit that utilizes an encrypted RFID immobilizer. This encrypted key fob keeps people from starting and stealing the car, to greatly reduce theft.
Each RFID key fob or card in the kit transfers data between the key and the control module. There is no battery to change in the fob or card. The fob is read by the antenna that you can hide in the vehicle nearly anywhere you would like. If someone gave you their Ghost Key key fob, you may still not be able to start the car if the owner did not share with you the location of the antenna.
When the key is scanned, the RFID immobilizer compares the received code to the list of programmed codes kept in the Ghost Key control module. The immobilizer allows the car to start if the key code presented corresponds to one of the programmed codes. If an invalid key is scanned, the power to the ignition system stays deactivated.
